7th Annual Celebration for Children’s Rights

Come be a kid again!

Child abuse and neglect are serious problems in our country and a reality most of us would rather not think about. Yet millions of children are victimized every year. First Star is working to change the future for our children by:

* Partnering with UCLA on the Bruin Academy for Foster Children, an unprecedented residential facility to educate,
* mentor and encourage foster children on the UCLA campus, providing a bright path to higher education, self-esteem and happier lives.
* Training professionals responsible for the welfare of children.
* Advocating for improved laws to protect the legal interests of vulnerable children.
* Raising public awareness by shaping the discussions of how we can better serve our nation’s children.
* Promoting accountability among child protection agencies, challenging each state to adopt best practices.
